Tooth Whitening
Here at the Southside Dental Practice we offer professional tooth whitening with fabulous results. First impressions are so very important and a bright, white smile can make a huge difference.
What does the whitening procedure involve?
Our tooth whitening involves two visits to our practice. At the initial appointment impressions are taken. Our dental technicians then make customised dental whitening trays to ensure an accurately fitting tray that will optimize the whitening process. A well fitting set of whitening trays is of the utmost importance as poorly fitting trays are one of the main causes of a poor result in tooth whitening. At the second appointment we will make sure the trays are an excellent fit and will instruct you on how to use them for 2 to 4 weeks at home with the whitening product provided.
Should I consider tooth whitening?
Teeth often become discoloured over time due with poor oral hygiene, drinking red wine, tea or coffee and of course with smoking. The whitening procedure can lighten the shade of your teeth for a brighter, more attractive smile. If you feel your teeth could do with being lighter and brighter then get in touch.
What can I expect?
A record of your current shade is taken at the start of treatment and can then be compared to the final result. Teeth should be noticeably lighter by the end of treatment, though the original shade of your teeth will obviously play a role in the outcome. There sometimes a little sensitivity after the treatment is complete, but this should wear off quickly.
Does the treatment work for everyone?
Tooth whitening is a very effective treatment, but the degree of success depends on the original shade of your teeth, one’s lifestyle habits and oral hygiene maintenance. Your dentist can advise you of the likely outcomes at your consultation.
